Why communism doesn't work in practice

Why communism doesn't work in practice?

As far as we can tell, history provides no example of a communist revolution that ever lasted long enough to fully replace capitalism. Even the most radical communist revolutions have been overthrown and replaced by right-wing dictatorships. Furthermore, communist revolutions have been attempted in countries with extensive natural resources.

The result has been catastrophic for the environment and the people whose lives depended on those natural resources. The popular idea that communism is an alternative to the capitalist system is an example of wishful thinking.

In most communist countries, the economy is run according to the priorities of the communist party, not by the needs of the people. In order to make sure the system works for the party, the communist party often places individuals with a strong allegiance to the regime at the top of the food chain.

Why is communism a failed ideology?

communism is a false religion. It doesn’t matter how many people believe in it; if a belief isn’t based on reality, it’s still a false religion. Despite the propaganda that communist states use, communism doesn’t work in practice.

And for good reason: Marx’s prediction about what would happen in a communist society were totally wrong. The idea that the means of production should be owned by the community and equally share the benefits of production and consumption is not new. The idea of communism is as old as civilization itself.

However, communist ideology can’t work because the human nature is inherently egoistic. We are born selfish and will naturally tend to use the means of production for our own benefit.

Why didn't communism work in Russia?

The problem with the Bolshevik system was the same problem that had plagued previous Communist societies: the lack of a strong economic engine. The USSR had to import almost 90 percent of its raw materials and food. Furthermore, its production methods were often outdated and inefficient.

The result was the production of goods that were of low quality and sometimes completely useless. Even though the USSR had a large workforce, there were not enough machines to replace the millions of workers who had been put out of jobs by the collectivization The Soviet Union and Russia never managed to create a communist economy.

While the early years saw some economic growth (due to the forced collectivization of agriculture and some forced industrialization), the system soon degenerated into a combination of state-directed central planning and inefficient and poorly managed private enterprises.

This combination of centralized planning and spontaneous economic activity led to serious inefficiencies and economic stagnation.

Why communism didn't work in the real world?

Communism fails for the simple reason that if there is no incentive for people to work towards a goal, people will not work towards that goal. People are naturally lazy -- it’s in our genes. This is what allowed human civilizations to first develop: people worked towards a goal (growing food), instead of being lazy and depending on the generosity of others.

Communism was supposed to eliminate the economic inequalities that are present in capitalist societies. However, when the state owned the means of production and distribution of goods and services, it inevitably created a class system.

People are born into different social classes depending on whether they are able to work for the state or for private enterprises. Under communism, the state assigned work to people based on their social class. Theoretically, everyone would have an equal chance to work and the economy would function perfectly.

The reality is that

Why isn't communism a viable political system?

Communism is challenging because it goes against human nature. When people are given the chance to live without having to work, they will take it. As a result, an economic system based on communism will not work. People will not work for free. They will steal or take whatever they want. They will not want to work. If you have no incentive to work, you will not work. You will not want to work for your neighbor because why would you? The biggest reason why communism is not a viable option is because of the economic system. While some communist countries attempted to use a planned economy, such as the former Soviet Union, others, such as China, used a mixed economy in which the government still owned the means of production and traded goods and services freely. This system still required large amounts of bureaucracy to control every aspect of the economy, and this inevitably led to corruption.
