Why does communism not work in practice?

While Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels initially thought that communism would automatically arise as a natural result of the efforts of the working class, they realized that it would not necessarily work as easily as they envisioned.

They soon began to write about how communism—or a form of socialism—had to be created by conscious effort. It wasn’t enough to just eliminate private property. People needed to understand the importance of private property and why it was held in place by the capitalist system.

The communist ideal is for the means of production to be owned by the people, but this can’t happen in practice as people would simply take the means of production for themselves. There have been many attempted communist revolutions, but the vast majority have ended in failure with the people being slaughtered.

The idea of communism has been tried in many different countries, but it has never worked as the people, and the political elite, have never been able to work together to establish communism.

Why does communism not work in theory?

Marx said that communism would come about as a result of the collapse of the capitalist system. However, in the capitalist system, a small group of people have control over the means of production.

These people will try to use the means of production to make as much money as possible for the people who own them, but not for the benefit of society as a whole. This leads to exploitation, as the people who work to create the wealth for the owners end up with a fraction of that wealth and have Communism is supposed to eliminate the division of labor and the production of commodities.

It does not. In a capitalist system, people specialize in what they are best at to earn money. Despite the communist idea that everyone should have a job that they love, communist states still need people to do specialized jobs for the good of the communist system.

This contradiction between the communist idea of a communist society and the reality of a communist country is one of the biggest flaws of communism.

The first problem is the idea that a communist society can be created when there is no private property. This implies that you can take what belongs to someone else, without that person's consent. The problem with this idea is that we all own the earth. If I want to take your house, I have to take it from you.

The same goes for your car, your food or your clothes. And if I want to move to your house, I need to ask your permission. In short, Communism is the idea that the means of production, such as factories, farms, and machines, should be owned by all of society instead of privately owned and operated.

Communism has a lot of different variations and some of its economic ideas are incorporated into other systems, such as socialism and social democracy.

Why does communism not work in Russia?

While the Soviet Union was not a pure communist state, it prioritized the creation of a communist society over economic development. This prioritization led to inefficient economic production that created shortages of food and goods in the Soviet Union.

The Soviets tried to solve this problem by increasing production quotas leading to more inefficiency, leading to more shortages. The result was wasting of natural resources, which further contributed to the Soviet economic problems. This caused the government to heavily tax the peasants, which made them very unhappy.

As When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, many Russians still held onto their communist beliefs. They still thought that the current system could be made to work. They had a strong belief in the system and the idea that the communist ideal could be actualized. It didn’t matter that the communist system had failed to bring about economic development or the prosperity that was promised.

It didn’t matter that the system had failed to defend its citizens from foreign invaders or domestic terrorists.

Why do communist ideas not work in practice?

When you think of communism, you likely think of the USSR and China, where the government controlled every aspect of the lives of its people. However, communist ideas have been experimented with in a few countries in the West. Despite the fact that these “communist” countries tried implementing the communist ideology, the results were not very successful. As a result, most people believe that communism simply does not work. Most people struggle to understand communism because they don’t understand the primary reason why communism doesn’t already exist. It’s because there is no communist party to impose communism on the people. In the United States, communism is a political party that runs for office. In the USSR, there was a communist party that ran for office. In China, it’s the Communist Party of China. In Cuba, it’s the Communist Party of Cuba. In Venezuela,
