Why doesn't alcohol freeze?
When a liquid is cooled below its freezing point, the atoms in the liquid begin to vibrate faster and faster, creating lots of little bubbles called ‘nucleation sites.’ These bubbles, in turn, attract more water molecules that bump into them and, in turn, cause more and more bubbles to form.
This process continues until the liquid is entirely frozen. However, alcohol doesn't freeze when it's cooled below its freezing point. This is because alcohol is an excellent solvent. ethanol is a fairly common alcohol that occurs naturally in grains and other plants.
It is the primary alcohol found in alcoholic beverages, including beer, wine, and distilled spirits. Because it is a simple alcohol with no complex aromatics, it is much easier to freeze than other alcohols.
Why does water boil but not freeze?
Water boils because the freezing point of water is very close to the boiling point of water. However, water has no strong attraction to itself. So, when ice crystals form, they are too small and too weak to attract each other.
This results in a flat solid surface, which is known as ice. Thus, ice does not freeze at 0 °C as water does, but rather at -0.5 °C. Water boils because of the evaporation of the liquid. As the surface of the water becomes hotter, the water molecules on the surface are more energetic and begin to move faster.
The frenetic motion of the water's surface can create enough force to lift water up and form a small bubble of steam. We refer to the process of heating a body of water without boiling it as "defrosting" the water.
Will alcohol freeze?
Although alcohol does freeze at temperatures below freezing, it does not freeze completely. You can drink a glass of wine at a ball game, even in the middle of winter, without any ill effects because the alcohol will partially freeze (or freeze a small portion of the drink, called the "Tetrasome").

Why does alcohol freeze your throat?
